Celtic boss makes Michael Beale claim after Rangers sack
It is safe to say that there has been very little stability in the Rangers managerial office over the past couple of years as Celtic have continued to dominate Scottish football. Steven Gerrard left to take the Aston Villa job. Giovanni van Bronckhorst impressed early on, guiding them to a Scottish Cup triumph and an unlikely Europa League final, but was shown the exit door just months into the following season. And now, Michael Beale is gone as well.
Beale arrived with a lot of hype surrounding his appointment and many were quick to brand him as a footballing ‘genius’. There were even some comparisons to Arsene Wenger along the way.
Ultimately, it did not lead to anything of substance for the Rangers. Beale finished his run at Ibrox without a trophy and leaves his team trailing Celtic by seven points in the league after just seven games.
Brendan Rodgers had some positive things to say about Beale after his departure though. The Northern Irishman described him as an ‘outstanding young coach’ and expected him to bounce back.

As reported by BBC, Rodgers said about Beale:
"“I’m always saddened when any manager loses their job, no matter what club they work at.“When you manage Celtic or Rangers they are big pressure jobs and I’m sure Michael will go away and reflect on his time here and no doubt he’ll come in again.“He’s an outstanding young coach and he’ll go away and reflect on the pressure and expectation he was under and the stress this job can bring. He’ll learn from it and go on and get another job and make a success out of it, I’m pretty sure.“It’s not nice when someone loses their position and I hope him the best for the future.”"
It remains to be seen how things turn out for Beale next. He had left QPR in the middle of the season to take up the Rangers job last year. There were rumours that there had been interest from Premier League clubs as well.
At the moment, after his run at Ibrox, it is hard to imagine that Premier League clubs would be looking at Beale as a potential solution. It is more than likely that he would have to start from square one at the English Championship level if that.
Of course, with the managerial merry-go-round that seems to surround the Scottish Premiership throughout the year, there might be potential opportunities to remain in the league if he wanted to. One thing is for sure, Beale has a reputation to resurrect after how things went for him over his 10-month run at Ibrox.
