Celtic are coming off quite the week. They got themselves a dramatic 2-1 win over Motherwell at Fir Park. The Hoops went ahead in the 87th minute through Luis Palma, as the Honduran international scored his first goal for the club. Most fans thought that was the winner before the home team equalised in the 95th minute. This team does not know when to give up though and Matt O’Riley found the back of the net in the 97th minute to seal all three points.

At Ibrox, it was a very different story. Aberdeen managed to get a 3-1 victory over the Rangers, leaving the Glasgow club seven points behind Celtic in the Premiership table.

It proved to be Michael Beale’s last game in charge of the Rangers as well. He was shown the exit door by the club and they now search for their fourth manager in the space of less than two years.

As reported by Glasgow Times, while speaking on The Rest is Football Podcast, Gary Lineker said:

"“Moment of the week, I don’t know if anyone saw it, but I saw the highlights of Celtic and Motherwell.“It was such a mad game. I think Celtic scored in the 87th minute, then we know we get long injury times at present, then Motherwell equalised in the 95th minute and then Celtic scored the winner again in the 97th minute.“They are top of the league there. Brendan Rodgers. Very popular amongst us Leicester fans. Always will be for giving us the glory of the FA Cup. We are getting some exciting finales.”"

It remains to be seen what the future holds but the result against Motherwell could end up having major implications on the fate of the league title come the end of the season. Of course, we are just seven games into the campaign and it is a bit too early to think about that.

Could things have turned out differently for Beale if Celtic were five points ahead and not seven? After all, the Rangers were on a four-game winning run, including a win over Real Betis in the Europa League.

One thing is quite certain, Celtic have certainly retained their ‘We Never Stop’ mentality despite the departure of Ange Postecoglou over the summer. As the season progresses, they seem to be coming to grips with Brendan Rodgers’ brand of football. There is still plenty of room for improvement.
