It is safe to say that Michael Beale’s time at Ibrox did not turn out as he would have envisioned. The manager had come in amidst a lot of expectations and hype but failed to deliver. He was not able to win a single trophy during his time with the Rangers and did not even last a year before he was shown the exit door, when they were left seven points behind Celtic in the title race after the first seven games of the league campaign.

Of course, Celtic cannot spend too much time thinking about what is going on at Ibrox. They might be seven points ahead of the Rangers right now but they have a lot of room for improvement as well and have not made a great start to the campaign.

One man who certainly had his fair share of back-and-forth with Beale during his time at Ibrox is Chris Sutton. The former Celtic player appeared to get the last laugh though.

Celtic fans with a keen memory will also remember some of the comments that Beale had made earlier in the year. And Sutton got his back this time around.

As reported by The Sun, Beale had said in the past:

"“There are pundits that are comedy acts. There are ex-players who are comedy acts.”"

Beale also said:

"“Growing up, I was a fan of Chelsea.“So there is one pundit around here who is the worst ever player to play for Chelsea.“That is why I won’t mention his name — I try to forget him.”"

Sutton had had a failed stint at Chelsea before he signed for Celtic. Following Beale’s exit, he tweeted out:

Of course, now it remains to be seen who the Rangers end up bringing in as their manager to replace Beale. Whoever it is, will be their fourth manager within the space of less than two years.

On the other hand, Celtic do appear to have some stability in the managerial hot seat. Their start to the campaign has not been great, but the players appear to be starting to find their feet under the management of Brendan Rodgers once again.
