Celtic have continued to enjoy success on the pitch for a long time now. They have won 11 of the last 12 league campaigns and if something unexpected does not happen, they should be able to clinch this one as well. But that does not mean that the Hoops have been successful in all aspects of the game.

Celtic have had a tough time in recent years when it comes to keeping their most highly-rated young talents at the club. Many of them have chosen to leave for opportunities elsewhere, before ever making an impact at the senior level for the Hoops.

One name which would fall under that category is that of Barry Hepburn. He was one of the most highly-rated young talents in the Celtic youth ranks before he decided to leave for Bayern Munich.

Chances have been hard to come by at Bayern Munich as expected. He is yet to make a senior appearance for them. And the youngster now finds himself back in Scotland, on loan at Queen’s Park.

Hepburn seems to be satisfied with the decision he made to leave Celtic for Bayern Munich though. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he said:

"“I was blown away when they came in for me. Celtic were great to me, but I couldn’t turn down Bayern Munich.“I saw it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Bayern’s an incredible club. I knew the long odds on me playing for their first team.“But I also felt that I was still guaranteed to improve as a player.“There was also the great chance to experience a whole new life, to learn a new language, to enjoy life in a different country.“Now I’m fluent in German and that makes a massive difference.“At Celtic, I felt like a big fish in a small pond. Going to Bayern was humbling.“I played an 11-a-side bounce game against the first team and I think I got about three touches!“But it was still an amazing experience against the likes of Alphonso Davies, Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Choupo-Moting and Dayot Upamecano.“My first day meeting these big stars was playing against them.“At one point I took the ball past Kimmich. I phoned my dad and joked, ‘He’s not that good!’.”"

It remains to be seen how things turn out for Hepburn at Queen’s Park. He has made a decent start. But to be very honest, even if he has a successful loan spell, it is hard to imagine that that would end up opening up a path into Thomas Tuchel’s first-team at Bayern Munich for him.

Only the elite talents are able to make it at Bayern Munich. Considering that Hepburn has not even made his debut for them yet and was sent out on loan to the Scottish Championship, he might not fall under that category.
