Lazio suffer massive blow before trip to Celtic Park
Celtic have had a brilliant weekend. They were nowhere near their best, once again, but managed to find a way to win with a winner coming from Matt O’Riley in the 97th minute of the game. On the other hand, they saw the Rangers lose at Ibrox to Aberdeen. The defeat leaves them seven points behind Brendan Rodgers’ side in the Premiership table and there are now serious doubts about Michael Beale’s future there.
On the other hand, Celtic’s next game is against Lazio in midweek. And the Italian side are not going through a good time either.
Lazio have lost some key players over the summer. And they seem to be struggling to perform at their best at the moment. In fact, they are nowhere close to that.
This weekend, they lost 2-0 to AC Milan. The result has left them 14th in the Serie A table. And if results go against them, they could find themselves sitting at 16th by the end of the matchweek. At the moment, they are averaging a point a game.

Thus, if there was ever a window of opportunity to get a result against Lazio, it is this one. Maurizio Sarri’s side are struggling badly at the moment.
They did get a decent result in their opening Champions League game though, a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid. Thus, it would be a mistake to count them out or consider them as weak opposition. This is going to be a tough game for the Hoops regardless of Lazio’s form.
Celtic do have some great memories of facing Lazio. They won both home and away against the Italian side, when they came up against each other in the Europa League a few years back. Fans will be hoping for a repeat of that.
