Celtic have been very active in the last few months when it comes to handing contract extensions. The likes of Callum McGregor, Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, Liel Abada, Stephen Welsh and Anthony Ralston have all put pen to paper on new deals. The Hoops are believed to be looking to agree fresh terms with two more key players in the form of Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate.

Of course, signing new contracts does not mean that these players cannot leave in the near future. But it does give the club more leverage and hopefully helps keep them happy as well.

It is not just at the senior level that Celtic have been extending contracts either. They appear keen to hold on to some of their best youngsters as well, something that the club have struggled to do in recent years.

As reported by Celtic’s official website, Mitchel Frame has signed a new three-year deal. It will see him remain at the club until 2026.

Frame is just 17 years of age and he plays as a left-back. That is one area of the pitch where Celtic could do with some strengthening. Could the youngster find himself in the senior team picture quicker than anticipated?

Frame currently is a regular feature in the Celtic B Team. He joined the club’s academy when he was just nine years of age. He has also appeared at the youth level for Scotland.

Frame was heavily linked with a number of Premier League clubs. In recent years, we have seen Celtic youth stars head for England more often than we would like to.

It is great to see that Frame has chosen to remain at Parkhead. And one can only hope that the club have a pathway to promote him to the senior level soon.
