Celtic and the Rangers share arguably the greatest rivalry in all of football. So much so that almost every Glasgow Derby is considered make or break. If there is one thing that matters most in the Scottish game after trophies, it winning the big game at Parkhead, Ibrox or even Hampden Park. Naturally, it means more to the players, the fans and everybody involved at the two clubs, and the celebrations reflect that.

The recent Glasgow Derby is a great example. Going into the game, the mood around Parkhead was not the best. Coming into it, Celtic were not in a great position having lost to Kilmarnock and managed a goalless draw against St Johnstone.

Some questions were already being asked about Brendan Rodgers, just months into his second stint at Parkhead. But a win at Ibrox changed everything.

Suddenly, the future seemed much brighter for Celtic. On the other hand, most of the Rangers’ supporters decided that it was time for them to part ways with Michael Beale.

Roy Keane makes Celtic vs Rangers claim to Gary Neville

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, when in a discussion with Neville about how teams possibly over-celebrate, Keane referenced his experience of playing for Celtic against Rangers as he told The Overlap:

"“I go the other way.“I am also then critical of teams who don’t celebrate a goal. You don’t want that.“I know you (Gary Neville) are picking into that, but it is a derby game. I don’t remember when we played against Man City or if I was at Celtic against Rangers and you scored, ‘it’s unbelievable’.“But again, the point is, you are playing a top-level sport. You should be able to go ‘That is done. We switch back on’.”"

Keane did not play for a long time for Celtic. In fact, he only played for half a season for the club that he grew up supporting before announcing his retirement from the game.

The Manchester United icon did get a chance to play in the Glasgow Derby during that period of time though and even tasted victory against Rangers. The Hoops would go on to win the Scottish Premier League and Scottish League Cup double that season. Those were the last pieces of silverware that Keane won in his trophy-filled career before calling it a day.
