Celtic fans were left very disappointed when Ange Postecoglou decided to leave the club mere days after guiding them to a treble in order to join Tottenham Hotspur. But at the end of the day, most understood the Australian’s decision and wished him well. The Hoops went out and got the best replacement possible to their credit, by bringing back Brendan Rodgers to Parkhead for a second stint in the hot seat.

Rumours had linked Tottenham Hotspur with a few Celtic players in the summer and unsurprisingly so. The Premier League side did not end up signing any of Postecoglou’s former players though.

One of those linked with a switch to London was Jota, who clearly was a standout during Postecoglou’s two years at Parkhead. The Portuguese winger did leave Celtic though, joining Al-Ittihad.

That move has turned out to be a bit of a nightmare for Jota and he seems to be out of first-team plans at Al-Ittihad already. As a result, he has recently been linked with a return to Celtic Park. But that is not the end of the story.

Ange’s Tottenham eyeing Celtic-linked player

As reported by The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are tracking former Celtic star Jota. They need cover for Ivan Perisic and Postecoglou knows the Portuguese winger well after their successful spell at Parkhead.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham Hotspur do indeed end up making a move for Jota or not. His future at Al-Ittihad seems to be completely up in the air right now and no options seem to be off the table.

Of course, it remains to be seen if there is much to the rumours linking Jota with a return to Celtic as well. He would certainly be a great addition and improve the squad immediately. But it is hard to see it being anything other than a short-term loan deal.
