Except for the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Feyenoord away at De Kuip in their Champions League group stage opener, it has been a good few weeks for Celtic for sure. The club seem to be rediscovering their form on the pitch and getting some wins, as well as goals. Earlier in the day, the Hoops also confirmed that they had agreed a contract extension with Anthony Ralston and there could be more good news on the way.

Celtic have been very active when it comes to handing contract extensions lately. Ralston became the sixth first-team player to sign a new deal this season after Kyogo, Callum McGregor, Daizen Maeda, Liel Abada and Stephen Welsh.

Rumours recently suggested that Celtic were looking to hand a new deal to Reo Hatate too. And there is an update on that situation.

As reported by The Mail+, Celtic are close to an agreement with Hatate over a contract extension. The Japanese player’s people expect to receive final confirmation of the offer from the club in the coming days.

Hatate signing a new deal with Celtic would be viewed as a major positive for the club. On top form, he is one of the best players that the Hoops have. He has proven that numerous times in the past.

Admittedly, he has not shown his best under the management of Brendan Rodgers. There have been suggestions that that is because he was somewhat unsettled by all the interest regarding his signature.

He ended up staying at Celtic Park and is expected to put in much-improved performances moving forward. We have already seen signs of that in his recent displays since returning from injury. And signing an extension would be the perfect way to end all speculation around his future for a short while.
