There is quite a bit of positivity around Celtic at the moment. Certainly a lot more than what was there following the defeat away to Kilmarnock followed by a goalless draw to St Johnstone. Since then, the Hoops have been on a decent run even though they did suffer a 2-0 loss at the hands of Feyenoord away at De Kuip.

The progress is clear to see though. And it feels like the players are slowly starting to come to grips with Brendan Rodgers’ brand of football, which is already proven to produce success in Scotland.

On the other hand, there is some good news at the developmental levels as well. Darren O’Dea was linked with a move to the Championship to manage Inverness Caledonian Thistle but the Celtic B Team manager does not seem to be interested.

As reported by the Daily Record, O’Dea has pulled out of the running for the Inverness job as a source close to him said:

"“Darren was flattered by the approach but it isn’t something he is interested in at this point and has taken himself out of the running.”"

It is important to have a consistent structure and coaching unit at the youth and developmental levels. So, it is good news that O’Dea has decided to stay. He is very highly rated for the job he has done with the Celtic B Team and before that with the Under-18s.

O’Dea arrived at the club as the manager of the under-18s back in 2019 and was promoted to the B Team in 2021. It is also worth pointing out that he himself spent time in the Celtic youth setup and played at the senior level for the club as well.

O’Dea was believed to be near the top of Inverness’ wishlist as they search for a new manager. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him at Celtic Park. If John Kennedy is an example to go by then he might have a long run.
