24-year-old Liverpool player would be ideal signing for Celtic
Celtic have already signed one player from Liverpool, albeit on loan for just the first half of the season. Nat Phillips arrived in the late stages of the summer transfer window and it remains to be seen how he does. The start has not been great as he is already dealing with fitness issues and has only played 45 minutes of football for the Hoops.
If Phillips is able to perform, there is a possibility that the club could try to sign him permanently. Considering the form of Liam Scales, there are questions though about whether they needed to bring him in on loan in the first place.
There is another Liverpool player who Celtic have been linked with for a while now. It is their second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper has impressed whenever given the chance and looks to have a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the opportunities have come few and far between with Alisson Becker ahead of him in the Liverpool pecking order. If he wants to play regularly anytime soon, Kelleher might need to leave Anfield. Could Parkhead be a potential destination?

As reported by Glasgow World, former Celtic goalkeeper, Pat Bonner, said while speaking on BBC Sportsound:
"“They do need, I think, a young goalkeeper coming through the system. I don’t see it. They’ve gone with Scott Bain. They’ve got (Benjamin) Siegrist there who doesn’t seem to be pushing his way through to even become number two.“So that’s a kind of worry and they let Connor Hazard go down to England. I think that’s an area where they should have a number three really pushing through – a young guy. There was talkabout (Caoimhin) Kelleher coming up from Liverpool. I don’t know if Liverpool will let him go from that point of view.“Becuase he fits their bill and that would have been an ideal situation to see. Could he come in and Joe Hart then might have to phase out and become a support goalkeeper to him? But at the moment I think he’s number one.”"
It goes without saying that someone like Kelleher could be a great signing for the Hoops. But at this point in time, it remains to be seen if a move is possible or not. It will be difficult to sign him on a permanent basis from Liverpool for sure.
That being said, if there is any opportunity, Celtic must look to take it. Kelleher is the type of player that the Hoops should consider breaking their transfer record for if need be. He could solve their goalkeeping issues for years to come or move on for a bigger fee in the not too distant future.
