Celtic showed a lot of character to get a 3-0 win away at the Tony Macaroni Arena against Livingston, despite being down to ten men for the majority of the game. The three goalscorers for the Hoops on the day were Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley and Daizen Maeda. While the fans would have been happy with the result, there were a few negative talking points coming out of the game as well.

The biggest was the red card received by Joe Hart in the 28th minute. Celtic were leading by 1-0 at that point but going down to ten men could have changed the match completely. Fortunately, it did not and the Hoops were able to come out with all three points.

Hart has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism lately. Many believed he was at fault for Feyenoord’s opener in midweek. And he was then sent off in the very next match. Over the last two games, Celtic have seen three red cards.

It was not just Hart who might have been at fault in the game against Livingston though. As reported by Football Scotland, Neil Lennon said while speaking to Sky Sports:

"“It’s reckless from Joe. He’s fully committed but you just can’t make a challenge like that. That could have been for reckless endangerment of a player as well.“If you look at Scales, he is not in line with Lagerbielke. It is a clear red card. Sangare gets a touch and Joe takes him clean out.”"

Hart has done a very good job since arriving at Celtic Park a couple of summers ago. That being said he might no longer be at the level required to be a regular starter for the club.

That is understandable though. Hart is 36 years of age and very much in the twilight of his glorious career.

Expectations were that Celtic would sign another goalkeeper in the summer and they were linked with a few. But surprisingly, they did not add to their options between the posts. Other than Hart, they have Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist.
