The summer transfer window might be long over, but Celtic continue to be linked with one player after another. Left-back is one area of the pitch where the Hoops might be in need of strengthening. And it looks like they have a youngster in their sights who is wanted by the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and many more.

Greg Taylor’s performances under the management of Brendan Rodgers have not matched the ones he put in when Ange Postecoglou was at the club. Many believe that he should no longer be starting based on his displays this season.

Unfortunately, it does not look like Alexandro Bernabei will ever be a starter for Celtic. He has undeniable quality going forward but seems to struggle at the other end of the pitch.

Celtic were expected to sign a left-back in the summer itself but did not end up doing so. Let’s see if they do end up bringing one in in the near future.

Celtic want to sign Chelsea target with £8 million release clause

As reported by 90min, Brighton & Hove Albion are in pole position to sign Valentin Barco of Boca Juniors. The 19-year-old left-back is also being watched by clubs like Celtic, Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund, Benfica, Porto, AS Roma, Juventus, PSG and many more. The Argentine has a release clause of £8 million but his current team are hoping to agree a new contract.

Judging by the level of interest in Barco, it is quite clear that he is a top talent. Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic are able to sign him or not.

The teenager is already playing consistent football at the senior level for a club like Boca Juniors. The last time Celtic signed an Argentine left-back, it did not go well. But that should not stop them from trying to sign Barco in the future.
