After a rough start to the season, Celtic might be starting to find their feet once again. They got themselves a confidence-boosting 1-0 win over the Rangers away at Ibrox before the international break. And followed that up with a 3-0 win against Dundee FC this weekend at Parkhead.

The performance levels can still go up quite a bit. But the good thing is that they are getting results again.

Also, the defence that had looked shaky in pre-season and in the first few games of the campaign, has now kept three clean sheets in a row. So, there are a lot of positives to take for Brendan Rodgers and a solid base to build upon from here.

Players like Liam Scales and David Turnbull have gotten another chance following the arrival of Rodgers, and taken that opportunity with both hands. One player who has continued to struggle though is Alexandro Bernabei. The Argentine is yet to start a game this season and it is hard to imagine that he has much of a future at Parkhead.

Pundit believes Celtic player may be out of Rodgers’ plans already

As reported by TBR Football, Gordon Dalziel said on Clyde SSB:

"“It’s a bit worrying for him. I thought he was coming onto a good game for Celtic. And then all of a sudden he comes on in the Rangers game and he looked well off the pace.“He looked like he was jogging through the game. I hate to say this about footballers, he looked a bit disinterested at times for me.“And I think Brendan Rodgers has decided well, I’m going to go with someone like [Liam] Scales. He’s got that option that he can play that left centre-back like he played at Ibrox.“He can play left back. He’s natural, he’s comfortable there as well. So I think after the disappointing cameo performance at Ibrox for Bernabei, I’m not surprised he’s been left out.”"

Bernabei was signed from Lanus in the summer of 2022. In the process, he became the first Argentine player in Celtic’s history.

Things have not gone his way since then though. Bernabei was expected to develop into a starter once he settled in.

Instead, a year later he might be bottom of the left-back pecking order. Greg Taylor has been starting there consistently while Scales is also capable of playing in the position and surely would have won Rodgers’ trust with his performances whenever he has been given the chance. So, Bernabei’s time in Glasgow might come to an end in the not too distant future.
