Celtic have already signed one player from Liverpool recently in the form of Nat Phillips, who arrived on loan for the first half of the season. It was a move made out of necessity more than anything else. Celtic have players like Cameron Carter-Vickers, Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki out for the foreseeable future. So, they needed late reinforcements at centre-back.

Phillips certainly looks like a good addition on paper. He has not looked out of place when he has been given the chance at Liverpool, although they have been few and far between.

There is another position where Celtic needed to bring in reinforcements over the summer but did not. That is at goalkeeper. Joe Hart does not seem to be the right fit in this system, even though his performance against the Rangers deserves a ton of praise.

Celtic were linked with Dominik Livakovic earlier in the summer but a move did not materialise. Could they try to sign a Liverpool goalkeeper in the future?

One player who Celtic have been linked with in recent times is Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool. He is an exceptionally talented goalkeeper but has found first-team chances hard to come by.

As reported by Football Insider, Alan Hutton said:

"“Every time I have seen Kelleher play he has been outstanding.“It has got to a stage where he must be desperate to play regular football. Would he be a good fit for Celtic? Of course he would but I think it has been a little bit harsh on Joe Hart.“I know he has made a few mistakes and is not the best when it comes to playing the ball with his feet but I think he has done well at Celtic.“I think all the criticism that has been aimed at him is a little bit harsh but I understand if Brendan Rodgers wants to play a particular way and is looking elsewhere. I get that and I think Kelleher would be an excellent recruit for the squad.“"

Kelleher is 24 years of age now and needs to be playing regular football at this stage of his career. But that is hard to come by at Liverpool, who have one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Alisson ahead of him.

Thus, a move to Celtic would make sense for someone like Kelleher. On the other hand, he would be perfect as a long-term solution between the posts for the Hoops. Now, it remains to be seen if they end up trying to sign him or not.
