Celtic have continued to add talented youngsters to their side, in hopes that they would develop into first-team stars and eventually be transferred for much bigger fees. That is the strategy that the Hoops have followed for a long time now and it would come as a surprise to anyone who has supported the club for any considerable length of time, despite the rumours about high-profile moves and record-breaking bids earlier on in the summer.
On the other hand, Celtic have had a very tough time though when it comes to keeping hold of some of their most talented youngsters, who are coming through the youth ranks. It is a major problem for the Hoops at this point in time.
A number of them have made the move down South before ever making a mark on the senior team. And another name has been added to that list now.
As reported by Sheffield United’s official website, Evan Easton has joined Michael Collins’ Under 21s squad after signing for the Blades last week. The Defender was part of Celtic before this.
Celtic player completes transfer to Sheffield United
Easton was highly rated at Celtic Park. But like so many before him, he has decided to make the move down South. Let’s see what the future holds for him at Sheffield United.
This is an issue that the Hoops need to deal with as soon as possible though. They cannot continue to let highly-rated young talents slip through their fingers time after time.
What has not helped them is the fact that very few have come through Celtic’s youth ranks to become first-team regulars in recent years. The only starter in the team right now is Callum McGregor, who is also club captain. The likes of Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh have been role players at best.
