Celtic have been pretty impressive when it comes to identifying talents in recent years. Of course, a large part of that credit has to go to Ange Postecoglou. The Australian’s arrival as manager in 2021 changed the transfer methods of the club to a club extent and they have spread their networks further and wider since then.

This summer, they have brought in nine more players, seven on a permanent basis and two on loan. It remains to be seen if they are able to emulate the transfer success of the Postecoglou era, now that the Australian has left for Tottenham Hotspur and is finding immediate success there as well.

One of the star signings of the Postecoglou era was Kyogo Furuhashi. He was the one who set the tone for what was to come over the next two seasons under the management of the Australian and has continued to deliver with Brendan Rodgers as manager as well.

Kyogo’s latest goal helped Celtic to a much-needed Glasgow Derby win over the Rangers. It was a beautiful strike from distance that found the back of the net and silenced Ibrox. And Kenny Dalglish had some high praise for the Japanese international.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Dalglish wrote in his Sunday Post column [10/09 print edition]:

"“I need to commend the winning goal from Celtic’s Kyogo. It was an outstanding strike and just reaffirmed again what a wonderful talent he is. At a transfer fee of around £4m, he is one of the transfer bargains of the millennium.”"

Many fans believe that Kyogo is the best player that Celtic have had since a certain Henrik Larsson. The Japanese forward might have to remain at Parkhead for a few more years before he can be considered at that level.

There is some pretty good news in that regard as Kyogo recently signed a long-term contract extension with Celtic. He seems to be very happy with life at Parkhead and might very well be here for the foreseeable future. That would be a big positive for the Hoops.
