Celtic player earns praise from Jurgen Klinsmann after debut

Playing for Celtic can help your international career. That’s pretty clear from this break with one Hoops ace even making his debut for his national team. There have been some question marks at times about whether playing in the Scottish Premiership could hurt such prospects. Especially when both Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate missed out on the Japan World Cup squad last year despite showing great form at club level.
Daizen Maeda was still selected though. He and Kyogo are both in the current Japan squad but did not get game time against Germany, although the Blue Samurai did win 4-1. Is that considered an upset these days?
Several other Celtic players are away with their national teams currently too. And while some wait to see if they are selected to play, summer signing Hyun-jun Yang has now made his debut for South Korea.
Jurgen Klinsmann’s side were playing in Cardiff in a friendly against Wales. It was only a late appearance as a substitute in the 84th minute of a 0-0 draw. But it is still an international debut and a good way to ease him into the team.

Klinsmann sounded very happy with Yang and his development. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:
"“Yang has been playing well for Celtic and he came on here and was good too. I think it will be very important to see how much he grows and develops both at club and at country level.“A lot of young players have joined and these players need to prove themselves with their performances. It is exciting to see the national team grow and develop with the addition of new players like Yang.”"
Yang looks to be a rising star, his first cap following his summer signing by Celtic and being named as the K League Young Player of the Year for 2022. He has been exciting and impressive in his time on the pitch in the Hoops so far. Even amongst some disappointing team results.
The future certainly seems bright for Yang. And with Liel Abada picking up an injury during this international break, the South Korean winger could receive even more playing time in the coming games for Celtic.
