Scott Brown enjoyed a very promising debut campaign in management with Fleetwood Town, improving their position in the English League One while going on an unexpected run in the FA Cup as well. Of course, Celtic fans would have been watching closely, as the club icon is considered by many as a future prospect to sit on the Parkhead hot seat.

His second season as a manager got off to the worst possible start though. Fleetwood Town struggled badly and found themselves near the bottom of the League One table, leading them to show Brown the exit door.

Of course, that is a major blow for Broony. Now, it remains to be seen what his next step in management will be. A return to Scotland seems logical.

On the other hand, it looks like a recently sacked Premiership manager could end up replacing Brown. As reported by TEAMTALK, Lee Johnson is set to be named the new manager of Fleetwood Town.

Johnson was most recently the manager of Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. And after a bad start to the current season, he was shown the exit door by the club late last month.

He might find himself back in management pretty soon though. Johnson has previous experience of managing in England, having had jobs at Sunderland, Bristol City, Barnsley and Oldham Athletic.

As for Brown’s departure from Fleetwood Town, one has to question the decision. Yes, the start to this campaign was bad and had raised a lot of questions. But at the same time, Broony had improved the team by 18 points and seven league places just last season. He had also guided them to their best-ever FA Cup run. So, many would argue that he deserved more time in the hot seat.
