Lazio want to sign Celtic player who could leave soon
Celtic are set to come up against Lazio in the UEFA Champions League this season, having been placed in the same group alongside Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord. The Hoops had met the Italian club some years back in the Europa League, and had impressively won both those games, home and away, under the management of Neil Lennon. They will be hoping for a repeat this time around.
It is not just on the pitch that Celtic and Lazio could be involved over the coming months though. It looks like the Italian club have an eye on one of their most highly-rated youngsters as well.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Lazio are monitoring Rocco Vata. While they didn’t get a transfer done in the summer, the Serie A club aren’t going to let go so easily.
Vata is one of the most highly-rated young talents at Parkhead right now. And he has been doing a tremendous job for Celtic B. But his future at the club remains in doubt.

Vata has not gotten too many chances at the senior level for Celtic despite his impressive performances for the B team. There have been suggestions that he is weighing up his future already.
Vata’s current deal with Celtic is set to run out next summer. And it is a bit of a surprise that the club did not let him go in the recently concluded window, despite knowing that he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with other teams from January.
If Celtic are to have any hope of keeping Vata at the club beyond his current deal, they might need start giving him some playing time with the senior team. Otherwise, it is likely that he will depart soon in January or next summer, as so many have done before him.
