Tottenham Hotspur player holds talks amid Celtic rumours
Celtic did not make any high-profile additions to their squad this summer, to the disappointment of many fans. The biggest name that they brought in is arguably Nat Phillips. And even he is only on a season-long loan and was barely playing at Liverpool. That does not mean that the Hoops were not linked with some top-level players though.
Eric Dier is one who will certainly fall under that category. He has spent almost a decade at Tottenham Hotspur and has made 49 appearances for the England national team as well.
He finds himself in a tough position right now at Tottenham Hotspur. Dier does not seem to be in Ange Postecoglou’s plans and has not featured in a single match this season till now.
As reported by The Telegraph, Dier has held talks with Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy after being frozen out by Postecoglou. The club are yet to offer him a new deal and his current one runs out at the end of the season.

Considering the situation of Dier, could a short-term loan move to Celtic materialise in the second half of the season? In many ways, it would make sense.
There is no doubt that someone like Dier would improve this Celtic squad. He has a lot of experience and is proven at the top level, something that a number of the current team lack.
It is hard to see Dier getting into Postecoglou’s plans, considering that he has not even featured in a matchday squad yet. At most, he can expect a rotational role off the bench.
So, if Celtic are still in Europe come January or struggling in the league title race, then they should definitely consider a loan move for Dier. He surely would not want to sit in the reserves heading into EURO 2024. Thus, a Parkhead switch makes sense for him as well and gives him the chance to potentially pick up a couple of trophies.
