Going into the Glasgow Derby at the weekend, the Rangers were considered as the favourites over Celtic. Michael Beale’s side were coming off a 5-1 defeat at the hands of PSV in midweek, but Celtic had not put in a single convincing performance yet and were winless and goalless in their previous two games, a 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock and a 0-0 draw at home to St Johnstone. On top of everything else, the match was being played at Ibrox.
Celtic were able to find the back of the net this time around though. A fantastic strike from Kyogo from outside the box proved to be the difference on the day.
Brendan Rodgers is back doing what he does best, and that is winning Glasgow Derbies. On the other hand, the Rangers do not appear to be happy with one refereeing decision from the game.
As reported by BBC, Rangers will write to the Scottish FA’s head of refereeing to request an explanation for Kemar Roofe’s goal at the weekend against Celtic, which was disallowed by VAR. It was adjudged that Cyriel Dessers had fouled Gustaf Lagerbielke in the build-up to it.
Rangers make SFA decision after losing to Celtic again
Dessers appeared to take the ball off Lagerbielke in the build-up to the goal. But after a VAR check, it was overturned as the referee felt that the Swedish defender was fouled.
Most Celtic fans believed that the referee made the right decision by overturning the goal. Most of the Rangers supporters think that it was a mistake. That is what you would expect.
In our opinion, it certainly looked like a foul on the replays and the referee must have thought hard about it before overturning his decision in a game of this magnitude. At the end of the day, Celtic were deserving winners at Ibrox on Sunday.
