It is a match that most Celtic fans did not expect to win, which makes the result even sweeter. The Hoops had struggled for form at the start of this season, winning just two of their four games till now. On the other hand, the Rangers were coming off a 5-1 defeat at the hands of PSV as well but they were being viewed as the favourites on this occasion.

Michael Beale’s side did not turn up on the day though. As has often been the case in recent Glasgow Derbies.

Ultimately, a brilliant strike from Kyogo at the brink of half-time proved to be the winner for Celtic. A 1-0 win away at Ibrox under the current circumstances has to be considered a huge result for Brendan Rodgers’ team and will hopefully act as the boost that they need to get their campaign back on track.

On the other hand, Chris Sutton did not miss the chance to take a subtle dig at Todd Cantwell after the match, as he tweeted out:

Of course, Sutton is popular as a pundit these days but enjoyed quite a bit of success with Celtic as a player. He certainly has had exchanges with Cantwell on social media in the past.

Thus, one would not have expected Sutton to let this chance go. And the former Celtic striker certainly did not disappoint.

Now, let’s get back to matters on the pitch. The players must be commended for the job that they did away at Ibrox. Even a draw would have been considered a good result, when you take into consideration the form that they have been in as well as the number of players who are out due to injury right now. A win is pretty much golden for Rodgers’ team.
