The summer transfer window is in the books and Celtic made nine additions to their squad. Despite that, many fans feel disappointed with the signings that the club made. There was a need for established and experienced players with the Champions League group stage coming up and a treble to defend. Instead, they stuck to signing highly-rated youngsters.

As a result, we are in a bit of an unknown situation right now. Rangers’ 5-1 defeat at the hands of PSV as well as the late arrivals of Luis Palma, Nat Phillips and Paulo Bernardo have helped raise the mood a bit. But we still know what we are going to see at the weekend at Ibrox.

There is no doubt that Celtic still lack experience. Interestingly, they are being linked with a move for a Premier League winner, who has already played extensively under the management of Brendan Rodgers and is available as a free agent right now.

As reported by the Daily Record, Kasper Schmeichel could be set for a reunion with Rodgers at Celtic. The veteran goalkeeper is on the lookout for a new club.

As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, OGC Nice have terminated Schmeichel’s contract by mutual consent. The former Leicester City player is now a free agent.

Schmeichel is a Leicester City legend. He won both the Premier League and the FA Cup during his time with the Foxes.

On the other hand, many believe that Celtic need a new goalkeeper and Joe Hart is not the solution between the posts. Schmeichel himself is 36 years of age and could come with a lot of the same problems that the Englishman has. The Dane has played in Rodgers’ system for several years though and that could help him if he did make the move.
