Celtic were very busy over the course of the summer transfer window, both in terms of incomings and outgoings. Whether that has made any positive impact or not is a different discussion altogether. Brendan Rodgers’ team have not made the best start to the campaign and look like mere shells of Ange Postecoglou’s winning machine from last season.

There is one player who seems to have improved as a result of Postecoglou’s exit. That is none other than Liel Abada.

Abada recently put pen to paper on a new deal. That would have seemed almost impossible a couple of months ago when he seemed destined to leave in the summer after struggling to get starts.

There was no lack of interest in his signature either. As reported by The Scottish Sun, a fee in the region of £7 million from Sporting Lisbon was turned down for Abada before he signed his new deal.

Abada staying on is certainly great news for Celtic. Following the exit of Jota, he has been a regular starter for the club and looks like one of their most likely sources of goals and assists at this point in time.

Abada seems to be enjoying life playing under the management of Rodgers. And with a consistent run of games, it will be interesting to see what he is capable of producing on the pitch. He never really got that during Postecoglou’s time in the Parkhead hot seat.

Abada is certainly a special talent. While his overall play still needs polishing up, nobody can question his ability to make a difference in the final third of the pitch.

It is easy to forget but he is still just 21 years of age. He can only get better from here and hopefully, Rodgers can bring out the best in him.
