Brendan Rodgers confirms Celtic boost for Glasgow Derby
The summer transfer window is done and dusted. Celtic made nine signings over the course of it even though rumours of record-breaking offers and marquee signings proved to be well wide of the mark. Instead, the most high-profile addition that the club made was bringing in Nat Phillips on loan from Liverpool. And even that move was made out of necessity, as several centre-backs are out injured right now.
As a result, many fans have been left disappointed. They believe that Brendan Rodgers has not been dealt the best cards to make this season a success.
The voids left behind by Jota and Carl Starfelt have not been filled properly. Forget about strengthening the squad.
There is no time to sit back and reflect though. The first Glasgow Derby of the season is set to be played this weekend, as Celtic make the trip to Ibrox to take on the Rangers. And fortunately, there seems to be some good news for Rodgers’ side ahead of the match.

It looks like Oh Hyeon-gyu is available for the trip to Ibrox. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Rodgers said while speaking in a press conference on Celtic’s YouTube channel:
"“Oh is back in training so he’ll be available.“The guys who were out a wee bit longer term will hopefully be back in after the international break.”"
Of course, we have seen this team struggle for goals this season. They have not found the back of the net in the previous two games.
As a result, the return of Oh to fitness has to be considered a major positive. The South Korean striker had been putting in some good performances towards the end of last season and in pre-season this time around.
Of course, one would not expect Oh to start the game, especially after returning from an injury. But the South Korean striker could definitely be brought off the bench if Celtic need him.
