Celtic were always expected to be involved on Deadline Day considering the start that the club have made to the season. It was not hard to see that this team needed reinforcements if they were to get the season back on track. In the first few weeks of the campaign, they had looked sluggish and completely devoid of ideas.

The arrivals of Nat Phillips, on loan from Liverpool, and Luis Palma were announced before Deadline Day. But the club are still expected to complete a deal for Paulo Bernardo of Benfica as well.

On the other hand, they appear to have been active in terms of outgoings as well. And one has already been officially announced.

As tweeted out by Beitar FC’s official account, Ismaila Soro signed with the club for two years with an option for another season. The midfielder will join the team’s training sessions next week.

To be very honest, the exit of Soro was expected for a while. But as things dragged on, many might have felt that it was not going to happen this summer. Finally, it has gotten over the line though.

It is a good move for all parties involved. On one hand, it was quite clear that Soro was no longer a part of the plans at Celtic and leaving was the right step for his career. On the other hand, it frees up space in the middle of the park, with Bernardo set to arrive on loan from Benfica.

Soro was signed by Celtic in early 2020 and other than a brief spell in the 20/21 campaign, he has never managed to get consistent football at Parkhead. We can only wish him the best as he moves onto a new adventure in his career and hopefully, he finds success.
