Celtic have already announced the signing of Luis Palma. They are also believed to be closing in on a move for Nat Phillips on a season-long loan. But the Hoops do not seem to have any plans of stopping there either. The club have made an underwhelming start to the season and they seem determined to bring the campaign back on track.
Midfield is another area where Celtic appear to be set to improve. And they look ready to pull off a move that will remind fans of their move for Jota a couple of summers back. We all know how that one turned out for the Hoops.
Jota was struggling to find his feet at Benfica. But he proved to be a superstar at Celtic Park. He was brought in on loan initially but was signed on a permanent basis the following summer. It was not too long ago that he completed a £25 million transfer away from Parkhead.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Paulo Bernardo will jet into Glasgow today in order to complete his move to Celtic. He is set to join the club on an initial loan deal with the Hoops having an option to buy included in it as well.
Midfielder set to travel to Glasgow as Celtic move close
Similar to Jota, Bernardo was a superstar for Benfica at the youth level. But his career has not gone according to expectations since moving up to the senior game.
So much so that he spent the second half of last season out on loan at Pacos de Ferreira. And it looks like he is heading out the door this time around as well.
It will be interesting to see how Bernardo does at Celtic if the deal does go over the line. He will certainly have some competition in midfield.
