Things are heating up at Celtic Park in the final days of the summer transfer window. The club have been very active when it comes to incomings. They have already announced the arrivals of Luis Palma from Aris FC and Nat Phillips on loan from Liverpool. It is believed that they are close to getting a deal done for Benfica midfielder, Paulo Bernardo.
Rumours have also suggested that they could still be looking to make a few more additions before the summer transfer window slams shut. On the other hand, it is also important that they keep hold of their best players.
Matt O’Riley would certainly fall under that category. He has been one of the few players who has put in positive displays at the start of this season, even though his finishing has left a lot to be desired at times.
As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, Celtic have rejected a £10 million bid from Leeds United for O’Riley. The Scottish champions have reiterated to the Championship club that the midfielder is not available for transfer.
Celtic reject Leeds United’s £10 million bid for key player
It is important that Celtic do not let O’Riley leave at this stage of the transfer window. It would be almost impossible to find a replacement for him.
O’Riley joined Celtic in the January transfer window of 2022 and has been a regular starter for most of his time at Parkhead. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 10 goals and provided 17 assists in 76 appearances for the club till now.
So, it would be best for Celtic to keep hold of O’Riley for the time being. The Danish youth international seems destined for a move away from Parkhead in the not-too-distant future. But after already losing Jota and Carl Starfelt this summer, the Hoops cannot afford to lose another key player.
