With just days left in the summer transfer window, it is pretty difficult to judge where Celtic stand right now. There have been suggestions that they want to add as many as five more players to their squad. The problem is, that there do not seem to be a lot of concrete links at the moment. The only player they seem to be close to getting a deal over the line for is Luis Palma of Aris FC.
Of course, it is always a risk to leave things late in the summer window. Not only are transfer fees inflated by this point but it is also a race against time to get things done.
Celtic appear to be interested in adding to their ranks up top. And it looks like they might be closing in on a deal in that regard.
As tweeted out by Nicolo Schira, Mathias Kvistgaarden is getting closer to Celtic from Brondby for a €4.5 million fee. The club are readying a long-term contract for the forward.
Celtic reportedly closing in on €4.5 million transfer deal
The problem is that there are contrary rumours doing the rounds as well. Celtic recently had a second bid turned down for Kvistgaarden and many reliable sources have suggested that the Hoops have walked away from the deal after that.
Thus, it will be very interesting to see how things play out over the coming days. It must be said that Kvistgaarden has the potential to be a very good signing for this Celtic team.
At the same time, any move for him would come with its fair share of risk as well. The Danish youth international has been in good form lately but does not have a proven track record for the long term. His overall numbers for Brondby are nothing to write home about.
