Although Celtic need some new quality players to arrive quickly, there is also a requirement for some to leave in order to maintain the squad balance. There are quite a few who do not seem to have any future at Parkhead. Hopefully, one such player could be about to complete a long-awaited move away.

There were high hopes for Albian Ajeti when he was signed in the summer of 2020 from West Ham United for a transfer fee believed to be around £5 million. There were perhaps some signs evident at the time that this wouldn’t be the right fit.

Ajeti had just finished a disappointing debut season with West Ham United. He didn’t score a single goal for the Hammers and by the latter half of the campaign, he was being left on the bench or out of the squad completely. He had built up a decent reputation as a goalscorer beforehand at FC Basel and FC St Gallen in Switzerland.

A decent start for the hoops made it look as though Ajeti might have regained his form. Five goals in his first month looked promising, sadly though the goals dried up quickly. In the end, he found himself in the same situation that he had West Ham United.

Ajeti clearly does not have much of a future at Celtic. But promisingly, it looks like he could be offered an escape route this summer.

As reported by Gaziantep Gunes (via Daily Record), Ajeti will travel to Turkey on Wednesday and seal his exit if talks progress. Turkish side Gaziantep are in talks with the striker.

Ajeti suddenly seems to be a man in demand though. There is also speculation that Trabzonspor are interested in the Swiss striker.

There’s absolutely no future left for Ajeti at Parkhead. Even with Oh Hyeon-gyu out injured, he is nowhere near the team. The only concern surrounding the whole scenario is that with just days left in the transfer window, there is little margin for error. We’ll have to hope it all goes through smoothly and on time.
