Celtic are expected to be very busy over the last few days of the summer transfer window. Of course, this is not the position they would have wanted to be in. But the circumstances have made it necessary. The Hoops have looked a shell of their treble-winning selves from last season and it is very clear that they need to immediately bring in some quality into the squad.

Rumours have suggested that Celtic could make as many as five new additions this month. Luis Palma is expected to be the first one through the door but there are no solid links at the moment regarding other players who they might make a move for.

It is believed that following the arrival of Palma, Celtic would look towards bringing in a left-back, a goalkeeper, a centre-forward and a centre-back. Yet, they could make a move ‘out of the blue’ as well.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic have been keeping tabs on Manchester City’s Tommy Doyle. And a midfield addition has not been ruled out.

Doyle is 21 years of age and one of the most highly-rated players to come out of the Manchester City youth system in recent years. But considering the strength that Pep Guardiola’s side have, it is no surprise that he has struggled to break into the first-team picture.

Doyle spent the previous season out on loan at Sheffield United and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League. It remains to be seen whether a move to Parkhead lies in his future.

Midfield is not an area that Celtic are light on options at the moment though. In fact, it might be the only position where they are pretty stacked. So, a move for Doyle at this stage would honestly come as a surprise.
