Celtic hero open to becoming next Hibernian manager
Celtic underwent a change in the managerial hot seat over the summer. Ange Postecoglou achieved a lot of success during his two years at Parkhead and that saw him being offered the Tottenham Hotspur, an opportunity that the Australian ended up taking. He has made a great start to life in the Premier League as well and is showing his quality from the get-go, pretty much transforming a team that was not expected to even compete for a top-six spot.
Of course, that will come as no surprise to Celtic fans. We all know about Postecoglou’s ability to turn a team’s fortunes around. He did the same at Parkhead.
Celtic certainly seem to be missing Postecoglou right now. The team seem to have taken quite a few steps back over the summer and made an underwhelming start to the season under the management of Brendan Rodgers.
If things do not improve soon, questions will be asked about Rodgers. One Premiership club already finds themselves without a manager though, as Lee Johnston recently departed Hibernian. They have lost all three of their league games till now.
Celtic hero open to becoming next Hibernian manager
Neil Lennon seems to be open to the prospect of managing Hibernian again. As reported by the Daily Record, when asked if he’d be interested while speaking on PLZ, the Celtic hero said:
"“Of course. I’ve been there before, it’s a big club and it’s got potential. But there’s been change after change after change and there’s been no consistency at the coach level, which is the most important thing at a football club.“They have to get the next appointment right for a bit of longevity and a bit of stability. I watched them a few times this year, they’ve got some good players going forward but defensively they’re not working hard enough. That needs to be corrected before they can make any sort of progress at all.”"
Of course, Hibernian are a club that Lennon has managed in the past. In fact, he won the Scottish Championship with them.
Lennon is without a club right now. His last role was at Omonia Nicosia, where his run did not last long, even though he was successful in guiding them to silverware. Before that, he had his second stint as Celtic manager, which ended with him failing to deliver 10IAR and departing in the middle of the 2020/21 season.
