Celtic are expected to remain very busy over the final few days of the summer transfer window. Of course, this is a worrying situation to be in. Ideally, you would want to bring in players as early as possible and have them settled in by the time the season starts. Clearly, things have not played out like that.
There are suggestions that Celtic could end up signing as many as five players before the transfer window slams shut. And it looks like we know the identity of one of them.
That is none other than Luis Palma. The Honduran winger was believed to be on the radar of the Rangers earlier in the summer. And while he looks set for Glasgow, it is Celtic that he is set to join.
While no official announcement has been made yet, the Aris FC manager has pretty much confirmed the transfer already. As reported by Glasgow Times, Apostolos Terzis said:
"“Luis Palma has been involved in almost every goal we have scored so far this season so of course he will be a big loss.“But I believe I have players in the squad who can step up and make up for his absence.“I want to wish him the best of luck with his new club, Celtic.“He worked so hard for our team and Aris also helped him a lot to develop.”"
Palma to Celtic transfer confirmed by Aris FC manager
Of course, those comments will be music to the ears of the Celtic supporters. It looks like not only are they set to bring in a winger, but someone who was having a tremendous impact on his previous team.
To be very honest, it is hard to predict what Palma is going to bring to the table. Many fans are viewing him as a potential replacement for Jota. He is very different to the Portuguese winger though.
Palma is excellent when it comes to set pieces, and he has shown his ability to make a difference in the final third of the pitch with both goals and assists. At the same time, he has not put up incredible numbers when it comes to dribbling and does not seem like the best ball carrier. That is something that might worry the fans.
