The Celtic rumour mill has been dominated by news of potential incomings over the past few days and understandably so. It is believed that the club could still make as many as five new signings, as they need a goalkeeper, a left-back, a winger, a centre-forward and a centre-back. At the same time, there could be a few headed out of the Parkhead exit door as well.

Celtic do not have a great record in recent years when it comes to promoting their youth standouts to the senior level. And it looks like one of the club’s best youngsters is headed for the Serie A.

The player in question is none other than Rocco Vata. The 18-year-old is considered by many as the most first-team-ready player in the Celtic youth and developmental ranks right now. Unfortunately, that might not be the case for much longer.

A move to Italy seems to be on the cards for him. As tweeted out by Nicolo Schira, Vata is getting closer to Verona. The contract looks set to be until 2027.

Vata has been absolutely superb at the B Team level for Celtic. Someone like him could have actually been a feature in the senior team if his development went according to plan. He has already made a few appearances for the club.

The 18-year-old is the son of former Celtic player, Rudi Vata, who had played for the Hoops in the mid ’90s. Thus, many had hoped that he would follow in his father’s footsteps but it looks like that is not on the cards.

Italy has become a popular destination for players who have come through the ranks in Scotland in recent years. If Vata does end up at Verona, it would be very interesting to see how his development goes.
