With just another week left in the summer transfer window, Celtic are expected to be busy. It is never ideal to make signings at the last stages but then a combination of injuries and bad planning have led them here. Over the past three matches of the season, it has become pretty evident that the club need to add to their ranks if they want to be successful.
Celtic won their first two league games but the performances left a lot to be desired. And then they were knocked out of the Scottish League Cup by Kilmarnock in the second round itself, a result not many would have seen coming.
Let’s see how things play out over the next week. It would be very disappointing though if multiple signings are not made by the club. Fortunately, it looks like they are planning to do just that.
As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, the club are targeting a goalkeeper, left-back and left-winger as priorities. They would also be keen to bolster their centre-forward options.

All those are positions that Celtic could do with reinforcements. Joe Hart certainly does not seem like the long-term solution between the posts. He is 36 years of age and not great with the ball at his feet.
On the other hand, Greg Taylor seems to be struggling to come to grips with Brendan Rodgers’ style of football. He had flourished under the management of Ange Postecoglou but could find himself out of the team in the near future if his performances don’t improve drastically.
The club have not properly replaced Jota either and have recently been linked with a move for Luis Palma. On the other hand, they could do with a third option up top, especially with Oh Hyeon-gyu out injured.
