When the Kieran Tierney to Celtic rumours first broke out, it seemed nothing but mere fantasy. Creation of the rumour mill. Yet, after the first few matchdays of the 2023/24 campaign and as we head towards the end of the summer transfer window, it looks like there is a real possibility that the Scottish left-back could end up back at Parkhead.

Tierney’s current situation at Arsenal is unsustainable. He has been left out of the matchday squad in their opening two Premier League games.

That is while Oleksandr Zinchenko is recovering from an injury while Jurrien Timber has torn his ACL and might potentially be out for the entire season. Mikel Arteta started Takehiro Tomiyasu, a natural right-back, ahead of Tierney in the game against Crystal Palace and the Scot was not even on the bench.

It does feel like the writing is pretty much on the wall for Tierney. But at the same time, his exit routes are quickly fading away. Newcastle United have signed Lewis Hall from Chelsea, while Real Sociedad are believed to have moved on and looking at other options.

Amidst all this, Celtic have been placed as the bookmakers’ favourites to sign Tierney. Now, let’s see if a move back to Parkhead materialises or not.

The presence of Brendan Rodgers in the Parkhead hot seat could make the decision easier for Tierney. He has already worked with the Northern Irishman and found great success as well.

A permanent transfer seems pretty much impossible, considering the fee that Arsenal are believed to be looking at. But as we head into the final few days of the summer transfer window, perhaps the chance to sign Tierney on a loan deal could open up. If it does, the Hoops should not think twice about it.
