Celtic could have to pay £4 million fee to sign striker
Celtic have already suffered their first big blow of the season as they were knocked out of the Scottish League Cup at the hands of Kilmarnock in the second round. It goes without saying that it was a major disappointed for the fans and also ends Brendan Rodgers’ run of winning every domestic trophy that he has competed for as manager of the Glasgow club.
One thing that has become pretty clear over the first few weeks of the season is that Celtic need to bring in reinforcements. This team has taken a step or two back over the summer.
They have lost starters like Jota and Carl Starfelt, and have not replaced them with players of equal quality. Yes, a lot of highly-rated youngsters have been brought in. But they are not ready to be in the starting XI yet.
One cannot overlook the already growing long injury list either. Everything that could have gone, has gone against Celtic. They cannot afford to sit and wait for things to be right though. The club need to make more signings.
Celtic could have to pay £4 million fee to sign striker
One of the players that Celtic have been linked with recently is a Danish youth international striker. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the club could have to stump up a £4 million transfer fee to sign Mathias Kvistgaarden.
Kvistgaarden currently plays for Brondby and has shown flashes of brilliance. But once again, he is just 21 years of age and would be another project signing.
That is not what Celtic need right now. Someone like Kvistgaarden could be a fine long-term addition to the club. But the main focus has to be on bringing in some experienced and established players who can be regular starters in Rodgers’ side from the get-go.
