Celtic need to bring in some reinforcements before the summer transfer window slams shut. The club have already brought in six new faces but their opening two performances of the league campaign seemed to lack a certain spark that was their last season. Maybe some established and experienced players are required in this youthful squad.

One area where the Hoops could do with reinforcements is on the wings. They have brought in Yang Hyun-jun and Marco Tilio this summer already.

They are both highly-rated youngsters with a ton of potential. But it does not feel like they are ready to replace Jota yet.

The Portuguese winger left this summer in order to join Al-Ittihad. He was one of the club’s most important players. Perhaps Celtic’s most creative outlet and a man for the big moments as well. Could Brendan Rodgers turn towards a familiar face to take Jota’s place in the team?

As reported by Alan Nixon (via 67 Hail Hail), Sunderland are aware of growing interest in Patrick Roberts this summer. The journalist believes Celtic are one of the teams interested in the English winger.

Of course, Rodgers will know Roberts and what he brings to the table very well. The Englishman spent quite some time on loan at Celtic Park, during the Northern Irishman’s first stint in the Parkhead hot seat.

Since then, his career has not gone as planned. And he has been linked with a return to Celtic Park on numerous occasions, without anything materialising. Could that change this time around?

Roberts has managed to rediscover his form since joining Sunderland. He helped them achieve promotion to the Championship from League One. And last season, he was one of their star performers as the club managed to make the play-offs.
