Most of the focus will be on potential incomings as Celtic have less than two weeks to make some more additions this summer. They have brought in six fresh faces in the ongoing window and all of them are very highly-rated and have the potential to achieve big things in Glasgow. But when you consider the rumours of marquee signings and record-breaking bids, it has been a bit of a disappointment to the supporters for sure.
Let’s see if that changes over the coming days. The club have been linked with some high-profile names lately to be fair.
At the same time, they need to part ways with a few players as well. There are quite a few who do not seem to have any sort of future at the club but have not departed either.
Let’s see if there are exits to come. As reported by Football Scotland, Celtic hope to offload the trio of James McCarthy, Ismaila Soro and Albian Ajeti.
Celtic want to offload trio before summer window closes
McCarthy was signed in the summer of 2021. Perhaps an attempt to add some experience and quality at a time when they had seen several key players depart. There were worries about his fitness issues though and over the past two years, they have proven to be well-placed. The former Everton player has barely featured for the Hoops but still has almost two years left on his deal.
Soro was signed in early 2020. He had a brief bright spell in the 2020/21 campaign but other than that, he has not played much for Celtic. the Ivorian spent the previous season out on loan at FC Arouca of Portugal.
And finally, Ajeti was signed in the summer of 2020 from West Ham United for a transfer fee believed to be around £5 million. It has clearly proven to be a mistake.
