Celtic have already witnessed plenty of exits this summer. Jota departed the club in order to join Al-Ittihad in a £25 million move. Carl Starfelt has signed with Celta Vigo. Both of them were starters and their departures were headline-grabbers as a result. Other than that, Vasilias Barkas, Conor Hazard and Osaze Urhoghide have left as well while Aaron Mooy called time on his career altogether.
Some of those exits have weakened Celtic, others not so much. Now though, it looks like one of their most highly-rated youngsters is headed for the exit door.
The player in question is Rocco Vata. He is the son of former Celtic player, Rudi Vata, and has been an absolute standout at the youth levels.
Thus, fans would have been hoping for him to establish himself in the senior team in the future. Unfortunately, the chances of that happening appear to be diminishing rapidly.
Sky Sports man delivers worrying Celtic exit update
As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, it is looking increasingly likely that Vata will leave Celtic on a permanent transfer. Currently, there are no plans to extend his contract or send him out on loan. He is now weighing up his options.
Vata had already made a few appearances at the senior level for Celtic and it was looking like the club had major plans for him. But now, it looks like his future lies elsewhere.
Celtic do not have a good recent record when it comes to bringing up their youth stars into the senior team. One of the key reasons behind that has been the departure of most of their best youngsters before they ever make a real impact in the Hoops.
Ben Doak left for Liverpool after making a couple of appearances and he is already playing Premier League football for them. Let’s see where Vata’s future lies.
