One of the more surprising rumours of the summer has seen Kieran Tierney being linked with a return to Celtic. The Scottish international had left the cub in 2019 in a £25 million deal in order to join Arsenal. He has had an up-and-down time in London since then. At the moment, he finds himself pretty much at the bottom.

Tierney did not play much for Arsenal last season, spending most of the time on the bench after slipping down the pecking order in Mikel Aeteta’s side. And not much has changed this time either.

Tierney was not included in the squad for Arsenal’s opening game of the season. One would expect him to be looking for a way out of the club at the moment.

He has been linked with plenty of clubs over the course of the summer but a move has not materialised. And Real Sociedad seem to be the last club to leave the race to sign Tierney.

As reported by Relevo (via Football Scotland), Real Sociedad are putting their attention on Tottenham Hotspur star Sergio Reguilon as a left-back target instead. They appear to have moved on from their pursuit of Tierney.

As the transfer window nears its close, Tierney appears to be seeing his options reduce. And with every passing day, a loan move to Celtic might make more and more sense for the Scotsman.

He already knows Brendan Rodgers very well, having achieved considerable success during their time together at Celtic. A move to Parkhead would also give him the opportunity to play regular football and get his career back on track.

Of course, Celtic can only hope to reach a loan agreement with Arsenal. On the other hand, the Premier League club appear to be looking for a more permanent solution. Could their stance change with days left in the window?
