We might be just two games into the new season but Celtic are already dealing with a number of injuries. Both Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate, two of the club’s best players, were forced off the pitch in the last game against Aberdeen. It is also unclear when Alistair Johnston, a nailed-on starter when fit, will be back after undergoing surgery.
Now, it looks like the club have been handed another injury problem. And things are not looking good when it comes to the centre-back area, especially after Carl Starfelt left recently as well.
Stephen Welsh appears to be the latest centre-back to pick up an injury. It comes at the worst possible time for him as well, as he was starting to get into the team under the management of Brendan Rodgers, after spending so long sitting on the bench in previous seasons.
Initially, it was believed to be only a knock. But as reported by the Daily Record, Welsh has now been pictured on social media on crutches and with a moon boot on.

It remains to be seen how serious Welsh’s injury is. Hopefully, it is not a major one and he will be back on the pitch soon.
It does hand Rodgers a new headache as well. He might have to start with two summer signings in the next game.
Maik Nawrocki has already started a couple of games for Celtic. Now, Gustaf Lagerbielke could find him straight into action, having arrived days ago.
As for Welsh, we can only wish him the best in his recovery and let’s hope he is back on the pitch soon. It was just this morning that it was announced that he had signed a long-term contract extension with the club. That is quite the turnaround in fortunes, considering his exit seemed inevitable not too long ago.
