Many Celtic fans are dissatisfied with how the summer transfer window has gone for the club. There were rumours about them making headling-grabbing additions to the squad. That has not happened at all. Instead, they have stuck to bringing in highly-rated youngsters and let’s see if they develop into key players in the future or not. The Hoops deserve credit for how well they have done in the last few years when it comes to identifying talents.
Two of the players who arrived at Parkhead as youngsters and have gone on to make an impact at Parkhead are Liel Abada and Reo Hatate. And it appears that the club are looking to reward them for their contributions.
As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are ready to open talks with Hatate and Abada over new deals. The club want to reward them with improved deals and are looking to increase the length of their agreements as well.
Earlier in the summer, the club were successful in extending the deals of Daizen Maeda and Kyogo. Let’s see if they can add the names of Hatate and Abada to that list.
Celtic ready to open contract talks with two players
Interestingly, both Hatate and Abada have been heavily linked with moves away from Parkhead this summer. But with just months of the window left, it does not look like they will be leaving.
At the moment, Abada might actually be more likely of the two to sign an extension. He barely started last season under the management of Ange Postecoglou but seems to be a centre-piece of Brendan Rodgers’ plans.
On the other hand, David Turnbull started both games over Hatate this season. It also needs to be pointed out that the Japanese midfielder picked up an injury recently which could keep him out for a while.
