A lot of Celtic fans have not been impressed by the performances of Joe Hart in recent times and have called for the club to add to their ranks between the posts. The Englishman has been the club’s number one for the past two seasons but seems to be struggling at the moment, as it does not look like the style of football suits him.
Also, at 36 years of age, Hart is not a long-term solution by any stretch of the imagination. Thus, sooner or later, Celtic will need to sign a new goalkeeper.
One of the most exciting names that they have been linked with this summer is Dominik Livakovic. The Croatian number one was arguably his national team’s best performer as they finished 3rd at the World Cup last year. And many consider him to be one of the most underrated goalkeepers in Europe right now.
It is surprising that at 28 years of age, Livakovic is still playing in the Croatian top flight with Dinamo Zagreb. Someone like him would be an excellent addition to this Celtic team. But unfortunately, it seems like his future is set and he is headed elsewhere.
Livakovic final decision amid Celtic rumours
As reported by Aksam Spor, Livakovic will head to Istanbul after Dinamo Zagreb’s rematch with AEK Athens. The Croatian goalkeeper will officially sign with Fenerbahce until Friday at the latest. A 4+1 year contract will be signed with the 28-year-old.
Thus, it looks like the long-drawn transfer saga is set to come to an end. Livakovic is set to join Fenerbahce.
For a while, it had looked like the move had collapsed, but it turns out that that is not the case after all. It is believed to be a €9 million transfer deal. Maybe Celtic did not want to shell out that kind of a figure of a 28-year-old.
