Celtic handed double injury scare against Aberdeen
Just like matchday 1, Celtic did not perform anywhere near their best but were good enough to get the win and the three points. The Hoops got themselves a 3-1 victory against Aberdeen away at the Pittodrie Stadium with Liel Abada, Kyogo and Matt O’Riley getting on the scoresheet. It was not a positive display by any stretch of the imagination though.
It is the start of a new era under the management of Brendan Rodgers but there does not seem to be much excitement around the team. Over the summer, it feels like they have taken a step back and not forward.
Celtic will not be helped by the two injury scares that they suffered against Aberdeen. Cameron Carter-Vickers was taken off at half-time and one can only hope that it was a precautionary or tactical change. It was only recently that the American centre-back had returned from a long spell on the sidelines.
On the other hand, Reo Hatate was brought on at half-time as a substitute. But he was forced off the pitch around the 70th minute with what looked to be an injury.
Celtic handed double injury scare against Aberdeen
Carter-Vickers and Hatate are two of the most important players that Celtic have right now. Thus, if both of them did pick up injuries against Aberdeen, then it would be a major issue for the Hoops.
If one or both of them end up being out for any considerable length of time, then the club must consider dipping into the transfer market and bringing in replacements. They simply cannot do with that.
The club’s transfer activity this summer has left a lot of fans very disappointed. There had been talk of marquee signings and a major budget. Yet, none of that has transpired. Instead, the club have brought in youngsters, who have potential but might not be ready to make an impact just yet.
