Centre-back is a position that has gotten a lot of attention at Celtic this summer. On one hand, the club have lost a nailed-on starter in the form of Carl Starfelt. The Swede had formed a formidable partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers in the heart of defence and won five trophies over the past two seasons. On the other hand, the Hoops have signed Maik Nawrocki from Legia Warsaw and appear to be on the verge of signing Gustaf Lagerbielke from IF Elfsborg in a £3 million deal.

Fans expect Nawrocki and Lagerbielke to compete for the spot vacated by Starfelt in the starting XI. The likes of Stephen Welsh, Yuki Kobayashi, Liam Scales and Tomoki Iwata are options as well although it would be a surprise if all four remained at Parkhead beyond this summer.

Another centre-back that the club have on their books is Bosun Lawal. The 20-year-old is very highly-rated at Parkhead but has made only one senior appearance till now.

With so many players ahead of him in the pecking order, it is hard to see Lawal getting any significant playing time though. Thus, leaving on loan seems to be the best step for him and it looks like that is going to happen.

As reported by Football Insider, Lawal is set to sign a new deal at the club. He will then head out on loan to Fleetwood Town.

Fleetwood Town play in League One of English football. But more importantly, they are managed by Celtic icon Scott Brown.

Broony impressed in his debut campaign as a manager, improving Fleetwood Town in the league and going on a run in the FA Cup. Thus, going there to play senior level football might be a positive experience for Lawal and help him upon returning to Celtic.
