Celtic have seen a lot of exits in recent times. Most of the headlines have circled around Carl Starfelt and understandably so, as he was a starter for the Hoops for the past two seasons and won five trophies during that period of time. The Swedish international has brought an end to his stint at Parkhead and joined Celta Vigo in La Liga.

Some youngsters have headed out on loan lately as well. Ben McPherson move to Queen’s Park for the season was confirmed recently. And he will be joined out the Parkhead exit door by another highly-rated talent.

As tweeted out by Celtic, after signing a contract extension with the club today, Ben Summers has joined Dunfermline Athletic on a season-long loan deal.

Summers is one of the best young talents that the club have in their ranks right now. But he was not expected to get too much playing time if he stayed on at Parkhead. Thus, leaving the club on a temporary basis is the best step for him at this stage of his career.

Summers has been in and around the senior team for a while. In fact, he has already made a couple of appearances as well.

He is 19 years of age though and can do with some experience in the senior game. But with the depth that Brendan Rodgers’ squad has, he was not expected to get that at Parkhead, except for probably brief appearances off the bench here and there.

Dunfermline Athletic have recently returned to the Scottish Championship after a season in League One. And they will not want to drop back. The club have made a winning start to their campaign. Thus, going there could be a good experience for Summers and he could get some decent gametime.
