Celtic are expected to make a few more additions to Brendan Rodgers’ squad before the summer transfer window slams shut. On the other hand, players are continuing to leave the club as well. Some departures have gone under the radar while others have grabbed the headlines, like Jota leaving for Al-Ittihad.

Unfortunately, it looks like the club are getting set for another such headline-grabbing exit. On this occasion, it is Carl Starfelt on his way out.

it is pretty much an open secret at this point that Starfelt is closing in on an exit. Several reliable sources have confirmed that over the past couple of days.

Now, it remains to be seen where he ends up. Celta Vigo appear to be the favourites at this point in time though. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, personal terms are agreed and the two clubs are on the verge of completing the deal.

It looks like the Swede’s potential move away has taken another step forward. As reported by Football Insider, Starfelt has been granted permission by Celtic to leave Parkhead and complete a transfer to Celta Vigo.

Starfelt is 28 years of age and this might be his last chance to get a move to one of the top five European leagues. Him leaving the club is a blow for Celtic for sure. Now, it remains to be seen how they go about replacing him.

The Hoops are expected to bring in another centre-back this summer. Maik Nawrocki has a ton of potential but he is not ready to fill Stafelt’s absence. The Swede has often not gotten the credit that he deserves for the job that he has done, being one half of the centre-back pairing which helped the club to five trophies over two seasons.
