Celtic are on the verge of losing one of their starting centre-backs in the form of Carl Starfelt. The Swede has been a nailed-on starter for the club over the past two seasons, playing his part in winning five trophies over that time. His run at Parkhead looks set to come to an end soon though and the club will need to bring in a replacement.

Celtic have signed a centre-back this summer already in the form of Maik Nawrocki, who has been brought in from Legia Warsaw. It would not be ideal to place the Polish youth international as a starter immediately.

Nawrocki must be given time to adjust to the Scottish league and his development should not be rushed. Thus, it is important for Celtic to bring in an experienced and establish centre-back this summer, who can be a starter upon arrival.

As reported by Football Scotland, Harry Souttar of Leicester City has fallen out of favour under new manager Enzo Maresca. That could open up the possibility of a reunion with Brendan Rodgers in Glasgow. Celtic could potentially offer him a way out of King Power Stadium on loan.

Celtic linked with potential move for Leicester City centre-back

Of course, the Leicester City centre-back is the brother of Rangers’ John Souttar. Thus, any potential move for him would not sit well with a section of the fans.

At the same time, if he does well, then that would be quickly forgotten. So, the club need to do what will be best for them on the pitch, keeping emotions out of the matter.

Rodgers appears to be a big fan of Souttar, considering Leicester City shelled out a £15 million transfer fee to sign the defender in January, while the Northern Irishman was still the manager of the Foxes. Could he try to bring him to Parkhead?
